Is your Mac up to date with the latest version of the Mac operating system? Is it using the version required by a product that you want to use with your Mac? Which versions are earlier (older) or later (newer, more recent)? To find out, learn which version is installed now.
If your macOS isn't up to date, you may be able to update to a later version.

Set custom Asset ID for Windows virtual machines to mark virtual machines in management tools or to pass some information from Mac to Windows. Realized I have an old version of mac mail that never updated with my OS X updates. I'm searching for a simple update to the latest version. And can't seem to find how. The old version is slowing my mail and corrupting certain emails. Thanks in advance for help. When you need to install software updates on your Mac, you probably head to the Mac App Store. But when it comes to macOS software updates, the Mac App Store is really just a front end for a UNIX. In macOS Sierra, as on all modern operating system, there are limits on how many files can be open at a time. There are also limitations on how many processes, or programs, can run simultaneously.

Which macOS version is the latest?
These are all Mac operating systems, starting with the most recent. When a major new macOS is released, it gets a new name, such as macOS Big Sur. As updates that change the macOS version number become available, this article is updated to show the latest version of that macOS.
If your Mac is using an earlier version of any Mac operating system, you should install the latest Apple software updates, which can include important security updates and updates for the apps that are installed by macOS, such as Safari, Books, Messages, Mail, Music, Calendar, and Photos.

Crarko, you are pointing to the older version of ClicktoFlash for Safari before extensions.
Folks with Safari with extensions should probably use the ClicktoFlash extension;

But better is the ClicktoPlugin extension which covers control for all video plugins;

With ClickToFlash/Plugin, it often just shows the unloaded flash box on top of the content instead, but you can right click on it and choose 'hide flash'.
By the way, if you get a page like this that refuses to work and the thing blocking the content refuses to go away, you can sometimes get to the content by using Safari's Web Inspector ('Show Web Inspector' from the Develop menu).

Update Mac Os 10.14
Ironically, Macworld (UK) is a major pain for this and has ben for a long time. However, they use a slightly different approach for which this tip doesn't work, though there are still workarounds (of a sort).
If you really can live with just the text of a web page, and one of the above solutions is not working on a particular site for you, check into a Terminal-based text browser like
lynx
or (preferably, in my book) elinks
. You will get the text of a web page in the glorious monospaced font of your choosing! If monospace is too hard on the eyes, you could change your Terminal prefs to use a different font (not really recommended unless you'll never use the Terminal for anything other than this tip here), or you can copy-and-paste into a decent lightweight word processor like TextEdit or Bean.Evade. The Email Update Mac Os X
Packages for both
lynx
and elinks
are out there for OS X, and they can also be easily installed via MacPorts or Fink.
